Powering Communities Grants 2021 - Expression of Interest

Grants of between $5,000 and $12,000 are available to not-for-profit community organisations to improve their energy efficiency practices and technologies. This aims to reduce energy use, improve energy productivity and reduce carbon emissions.

The program will assist organisations to:

  • upgrade equipment to reduce energy consumption
  • undertake energy management activities and assessments, such as energy systems  assessments and feasibility studies
  • invest in energy monitoring and management systems
  • invest in on-site renewable energy and solar-connected batteries.

The grant amount will be up to 100% of eligible project expenditure.  You must fund any expenditure over the grant amount awarded. You should complete your project by 30 June 2022.  

 

What can the grant be used for?

This funding is to be used to:

  • Energy generation and storage
  • Heating, ventilation and air conditioning
  • Bathroom and kitchen hot water
  • Lighting
  • Appliances
  • Other eligible activities

What is the process?

  1. Complete the EOI form below before 11:59pm on the 25th July 2021 to be considered by the electorate’s consultation committee.
  2. If your organisation is nominated for funding, you will be notified by Phillip Thompson by the 6th of September 2021 and invited to apply using a link sent to the same email address by the department.
  3. You will be required to register in the grants portal and complete an online application form. Being invited to apply does not guarantee that your application will be successful. All applications will be assessed by the department for eligibility and completeness.
  4. If your grant application is approved you will be notified by Phillip Thompson and will be issued a grant agreement by the department.

 

Who can apply?

To be eligible for funding your organisation should

  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • and be one of the following entities:
    •  an incorporated not for profit organisation including:
      – incorporated associations
      – non-distributing co-operatives
      – companies limited by guarantee
      – indigenous not for profit corporations
      – religious organisations incorporated under legislation.
    • an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust with responsibility for a community asset or property. You will be required to provide relevant trust documents.
