Boost to Online Training

The spread of Coronavirus has changed the way Australians work, train and study. Millions of Australians are now at home because of a change in work requirements or because the downturn in the economy. We want Australians to make the most of this time, consider their options and look at ways to improve their skills, particularly in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. That is why we are re-launching our improved MySkills website, which is now tailored to give Australians all of the courses that can be delivered online.

The website has also involved a lot of coordination with the VET sector who are working in real time to deliver more and more training online. So far, we have around 2,000 courses that can be delivered online and we expect this number to grow as more providers adapt their courses to the current environment. Before the spread of Coronavirus, less than one in ten Australians trained online, we expect this number to grow exponentially. This is not only a positive to help stop the spread of the virus, but it will also improve the capacity and flexibility of the VET sector during these uncertain times.
