$150,000 on offer for community organisations in the Herbert electorate

Townsville community organisations now have the chance to share in $150,000 worth of funding for projects which will help them reach more people and improve their offering.

Member for Herbert Phillip Thompson is calling for expressions of interest in the Stronger Communities Grants, worth between $2,500 and $20,000.

“Townsville has a fantastic community and thousands of organisations which do an amazing job keeping us connected, active, engaged and helping one another out,” Mr Thompson said.

“The Stronger Communities Program is a great opportunity for those not-for-profit organisations to get a funding injection to buy that IT equipment they haven’t been able to afford, or add that shade cloth to the clubhouse verandah.

“Last year we helped nine organisations with great projects including purchasing vehicles, computer hardware, building wheelchair ramps and installing shade sails.

“I want to encourage every not-for-profit in the Herbert electorate to log on to my website and fill out the expression of interest form.”

Organisations should visit http://philthompson.com.au/strongercommunities and complete the expression of interest form by the 28th of February 2021. EOIs will be considered by a community consultation group to be invited to apply for the grant.

Further information including eligibility requirements is available at http://philthompson.com.au/strongercommunities or by calling the Herbert Electorate Office on 4725 2066.
