Member for Herbert Phillip Thompson has welcomed over $70,000 in funding to support local Australian Defence Force families.

Mr Thompson said the Cowboys were successful in applying for Defence’s Family Support Funding Program grant and would be using funds to deliver programs to school aged Defence children.

Our community, better than any other, understands the impact that Defence life can have on families.

“The Cowboys in partnership with The Resilience Project will be delivering programs to school aged Defence children to support improved mental health outcomes in the Townsville area, and would assist in providing practical support and assistance to families,” he said.

North Queensland Toyota Cowboys CEO Jeff Reibel said the programs would specifically address social isolation, PTSD and the transition to civilian life.

Cowboys CEO Jeff Reibel said “the funding would allow the Cowboys to program delivery, in partnership with The Resilience Project, giving students and families of defence tools to help them to be resilient, while also encouraging them to build networks of support to address common issues such as social isolation, PTSD and the transition to civilian life.”
