Labor backs the Coalitions Fuel Tax Cut
I welcome the Prime Minister’s announcement to cut the fuel tax, it is something that I called for three days ago.
As the Opposition, we want to work with the Government for solutions during this fuel crisis.
The Labor Prime Minister and the Treasurer both said they wouldn’t cut the fuel tax.
We put positive, practical solutions on the table, and we are happy that this slow to act government has finally listened to the opposition’s calls on behalf of the Australian people.
This Labor Prime Minister must now turn his focus to the fuel supply issue that this nation faces.
Too many petrol stations have no fuel and no diesel, which is not good enough.
There is a supply issue and we want to work with the government on making sure that the Australian people get the fuel that they need to be able to take the kids to school, drive to work, keep our trucks trucking and our emergency services on the road, keeping the community safe.
We are in a crisis and this must be what the government focuses on.
