Solar Companies in Dark On Dodgy Traders

Federal Member for Herbert Phil Thompson is calling on the Albanese Labor Government to regulate dodgy solar trading companies who are killing small businesses.

Phil Thompson met with Super Green Solutions Founder Sean Cochrane who is now $50,000 out of pocket after a trading company refused to pay out his solar rebate.

Mr Cochrane put in an official complaint to the government regulator, Clean Energy Regulator (CER), against the trading house known by the three trading names Emerging Energy Solution Group, Net Zero Environmental Group and Green Bot Pty Ltd.

Mr Cochrane said the Regulator initially claimed their hands were tied, but when he reached out to Phil Thompson who wrote a letter to the Minister for Energy on the issue, the trading house was shut down within 24hours. The Minister then advised in a letter to Phil Thompson that affected small businesses should “seek independent legal advice” and that this issue was outside his remit.

Phil Thompson said he wants quicker action from the government regulator to stop other small businesses from falling victim to dodgy traders.

“Why should small businesses be punished for Minister Bowen failing in his job? For crooks to take advantage of this scheme is outrageous, and the Minister is responsible for the solution.”

Mr Cochrane said this wasn’t the first time this has happened, which shows fatal flaws in the system.

“There’s millions of dollars being taken from small businesses, and none of them did anything wrong. We’re getting ripped off at every turn.”
