Townsville volunteer groups encouraged to apply for funding

Cash boosts of up to $5,000 are on offer for volunteer groups Townsville.

Member for Herbert Phillip Thompson said $66,000 of funding was available for groups and organisations in the electorate of Herbert, as part of the Federal Government’s Volunteer Grants program.

“Volunteering is such an important part of our community, bringing locals together and making life a little better for all of us,” Mr Thompson said.

“We’re committed to supporting organisations whose volunteers enhance and enrich Townsville and promote the inclusion of vulnerable people in our society.”

The grants can be used to buy small equipment for volunteers or for the reimbursement of volunteer fuel, transport or training costs. Community groups can apply for between $1,000 and $5,000.

“If your organisation is in need of some extra financial help, I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity by getting in touch,” Mr Thompson said.

“Please fill out the Expression of Interest form on my website before the deadline.”

Expressions of interest can be made at philthompson.com.au/volunteer-grants, where more information on the application process and eligibility is also available.

Organisations interested in Volunteer Grant funding should submit their Expression of Interest via the website by Sunday the 9th of February 2020.
